Online & In-Person Psychotherapy

Adolescent Psychotherapy

Adolescence is a period of intense change.
The young person is called upon to redefine themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.

When adolescence becomes difficult
You may notice that they:

  • Isolate themselves or withdraw
  • Get angry easily or react intensely
  • Pull away from the family
  • Are struggling at school
  • Experience anxiety or intense pressure
  • Feel that “no one understands them”

And you may find yourself wondering:

  • “What is going on?”
  • “What are we doing wrong?”
  • “How can I reach them?”

It is not your fault.
Adolescence is a profound transitional period that often brings tension and confusion to the whole family.

What is happening inside the adolescent

They are at a stage where they need to let go of childhood habits and develop autonomy and responsibility.
At the same time, they receive conflicting messages:

“You’re old enough now”
and
“You’re still too young.”

This creates anxiety, anger, uncertainty, and confusion.
